In order to ride a motorcycle in NYC, you need to obtain a Class ‘M’ rating on your NY driver’s license. To get this rating, you have to pass a DMV written and skills test. Don’t forget: the day of your skills test you need to bring a motorcycle, a car and another driver who has valid motorcycle license.
Did you know if you pass the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Beginning Riders Course you don’t have to take the DMV skills test? Not only that, but it will get you important riding instruction that could save your life and you can save money on your insurance!
Need to learn to ride?
A lot of driving schools offer motorcycle instruction courses, however it’s best to go to a school that is sponsored by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. In New York City there are 2 MSF sponsored schools: Trama’s Driving School and the other is at Bronx Community College.
Where do I park a motorcycle in the city?
