Today, we are using plastic products everywhere, like industrial items, household items and more. It is very hard to imagine what our life would be if plastic was not invented. Many of our everyday products are made of plastic, this is why plastic moulding industry increasing rapidly. Plastic injection molding is easiest and fastest method of making plastic products. There are several benefits of inject molding process including the cost effectiveness and reliability. The plastic products which are created using this process normally do not need accurate finishing.

Plastic injection molding business started in the year 1946 when james discovered a screw injection moulding machine. Today, injection molds use the similar process and create a wide range of products from outdoor furniture to car panels, tools and small toys. Injection mold is ubiquitous in making and uses several various substances from polymer plastic to copper, aluminium, and other metals. The kitchen equipments and plastic bottles people use in daily life are products of the plastic injection process. Metal molds are normally expensive to make, injection molding is used most economically when hundreds of pieces are manufactured. Injection molds are made up of solid steel, currently aluminium which is not costlier.

Injection Process

It is described very simple, liquefied plastic is inserted into the mould under high pressure and heat. The main gold is to have the liquefied plastic material uniformly flow to all parts of the injection mold, making an exact, right solid plastic copy of the mold cavity. Then it is applied to cooling process, the tooling or mold mechanically removes the plastic product which then moves on via manufacturing process. In the industry of injection molding, this is a fully automated process; it is extremely efficient and fast process.

In-Mold labelling (IML) is a decorating technique which used globally for blow molded bottle, thermoformed containers, injection molded and other plastic products. Pre-decoration is the label to a container prior to it is filling with product.

IML (In-Mould labelling) do not need glue on the back side. This process does not require labelling step and all associated apparatus and works. in IML mould process, appliqué or a label is positioned in the open mold and place in right place by electrostatic attraction, and vacuum ports. The mold closes and liquefied plastic resin is forced into the mold where it makes an appropriate shape.

Mold labelling is popular because it is low cost when compared to pre-decorating techniques, and it condense in-house container making, and gives excellent appearance to the object. With IML there is no need of additional labelling steps and apparatus.

Why many using in-Mould Labeling?

  • Durability
  • Branding
  • Safety Messaging
  • Permanence

Benefits of IML Mould

  • It is more cost effective
  • High reliable and secure
  • When the label is created with the same polymer material as the product, it is more sustainable
  • IML mould reduce overall footprint and eliminates secondary operations.
  • The IML label can be offered die cut or die cut at the molding equipment (CIP)
  • Very less scrap rate
