Like anything, the foundations are paramount to the success of a certain venture. If you’re looking to become the next best restaurateur, you need to have good management, suppliers, and location, if we’re to believe everything we see on Location, Location, Location. So when you’re looking to become the next big thing in the taxi or private hire world, you need to ensure your booking system is as good as it can be. After all, this is where all your business and traffic comes from. If you’ve got a complicated booking form, customers will take one look at and go straight back to Google. This is the last thing you want; you’ve optimised your website enough that you’re getting web traffic, but unless you have the strong foundations in a well-built cab booking system, you might as well give up now. It’s one thing to tempt people in, but getting them to stay and make an offer is quite another. You’re halfway there, you just need a system you can have the utmost confidence in.
We don’t want things to be over complicated; we want things fast and easy. So if, as a customer, we come to a form that isn’t immediately clear, we’re not going to waste time learning how to use it. We’re going to find another site that is simple. If we have to put the effort in to co-ordinate a straightforward booking form, we can’t imagine that this particular company’s cab dispatch system will be that great, something we’re not willing to risk when we have important meetings to be at. Especially when what they’re showing to the user is quite awful. We need to know we’re being taken care of, and not for a ride. Apart from when we want them to take us for a literal ride, you understand. When we get into a cab, there are a number of things that we immediately do. This might be making awkward conversation to cover the three mile journey, which can be like pulling a tonne up a hill.
The second you get into a taxi, your eyes immediately dart to the meter. You want to know exactly how much it’s going to cost. For many, this can appear to be completely random. If it’s after twelve, it’s doubled. If there’s more than one of you, there’s extra fees on top of that. And don’t even get us started on the charges if you’re wearing a hat. That’s why we need some information when we place the booking. We need to know exactly how much it’s going to cost, and have that explained to us. This is evidence of a strong cab management system, in our eyes. With the exact route, down to point one of a mile, with every penny accounted for? This will make us book again.
