Roll Don in Style with the Sporty KTM

The Austrian brand KTM crossed the Indian shore when Bajaj Auto acquired some part of the company in 2007. The company famous for its off-roading and sports bike developed a product with Bajaj Auto while keeping the Indian market in mind.

By 2012, Bajaj Autos acquired 49% stakes of KTM and decided that they will provide the platform for the Austrian manufacturer with sales and service network. The first product to roll out from the Bajaj-KTM joint venture was the Duke 200. Powered by 200cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine, the Duke 200 changed the way people looked at motorcycles in the country. KTM Duke 200 is a street fighter styled motorcycle with unique looks and powerful engine.

The Duke 200 has been styled on the bigger KTM naked bikes and is the ideal bike for city. The bike has gained popularity quickly and the now KTM-Bajaj is planning to bring in more bikes to the country. The KTM Duke 200 has a tall front facia in a plastic case which holds the halogen headlamp of the bike. The instrument cluster which sits above the headlamp looks new age and is all-digital. The instrument panel displays many features. The all-digital instrument panel has the tachometer, speedometer, trip meter, odo meter and the fuel gauge. The new age LCD has orange backlit which looks sparkling at night. There is a big scoop on the tank making the bike very muscular and stylish.

The single cylinder engine powering the bike is liquid-cooled, 4-valve produces 25 hp of maximum power and 19.2 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is lubricated by the forced oil lubrication 1 rotor pump. Mated with 6-speed gearbox, the KTM Duke has a very high revving engine, rear wheel is mounted on the mono-shock which stabilizes the bike during tight corners, and light weight swing arm makes the whole package very compact and easy to manoeuvre through the tricky corners. The Duke 200 has special tubular space frame made from steel tubes which adds rigidity to the bike. The liquid cooling system which works by the continuous circulation of cooling liquid with water keeps the engine cool and makes it work at its optimum.

The stopping power of the bike comes from the disc brake type brakes. The front brake has twin-pot calliper while the rear has one-pot floating type disc brake with enough bite to bring the bike to stop within safe distance. The machine being lightweight, the power to weight ratio of the Duke 200 is very high creating a very high acceleration and easy handling.

KTM Duke 200 has been a revolution in Indian bike scenario. The bike sure has made its own space and with the upcoming line-up from KTM, the journey will only get more exciting.
