SAVE stands for Student Action for Value Education, an initiative of the HelpAge Save, educating children on the elderly problems.
The failure of the joint family system, relocation and urbanization in India is posing a challenge on 'taking care of the elderly' and further broadening the gap between the young and aged. All are influenced by what they gain knowledge of in their early days. HelpAge's SAVE Student Action for Value Education movement, concentrates mostly on making school children & youth understanding enough on elderly problems early in life, so they look after their elderly with affection, regard & concern and train today's kids & youth for their own old age and make an age friendly world.
19% of India's elderly felt uncared for, as indicated by a study. The elderly felt 'family members were excessively busy in their personal lives and they don't actually intermingle with them'. Via SAVE aged care programs, one looks forward to persuade kids to spend time with the elderly, identify with their problems and consecutively learn from their know-how.
