The process is simple and just the opposite of nitrification. The entire process includes two steps, firstly, converting back the finished products of nitrobacteria to nitrites and secondly these nitrites are converted back into three forms namely nitric oxide, nitrous oxide and nitrogen gas.
If the size of the pond is small, it is practical to carry out the process but if the pond is big, it would not be practical to execute the process due to the denitrifying filter. Thus, in such cases it is imperative to have a steady organic source material which is able to filter and stock up the solid mud material.
Instead of just counting on the de-nitrification process, which would have been miraculous if performed, there are many other alternatives also that could help you to get rid of pond weed. One method is periodically change the water of the pond, at least once a year and avoid the algae and other wild plants and weeds from breeding.
