To be in the abode of Gods is the innate desire of every Hindu. The most famous and definitely the most popular of all the pilgrimages in the lexicon of a Hindu is the Char Dham Yatra. This Yatra or pilgrimage comprises of some of the finest trips that you can ever imagine, in terms of obtaining inner peace and a sense of fulfillment. The Char Dham Yatra consists of the pilgrimage to Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
In the earlier days, whenever Hindus wished to go on the Char Dham Yatra, there was an air of uncertainty concerning every aspect connected with the pilgrimage. You didn’t know of the facilities that you would get either on the train or on route. Conditions were tough and the average Hindu would even carry his rations and stove along with him. Doctors invariably accompanied a larger group and the time taken for a pilgrimage to Gangotri Yamunotri was uncertain.

Things are totally different these days. If you wish to go on the Char Dham Yatra, there is excellent infrastructure that exists by way of eco-friendly luxury accommodations that could be a hotel or a luxury tent. These facilities exist in Gangotri Yamunotri as well as Kedarnath and Badrinath. You can fly to Rishikesh and then commute to each of these places of pilgrimage. You have motorable roads to Gangotri and Badrinath. Well organized treks exist for the 14 km walk to Yamunotri and Kedarnath from Hanumanchatti or Gaurikund respectively. Palkis and mules are also options for these treks. Each of these places of pilgrimage will offer sights that you cannot enjoy anywhere else, perhaps in the entire world. You will invariably have one of the awe-inspiring glacier-fed rivers, such as the Ganges or the Yamuna and the Mandakini alongside, as your road winds up the Himalayas. There are Chardham Camps that are set up to ensure that you are provided every kind of comfort on your arduous pilgrimage. Some of the camps provide facilities of accommodation that are superior to what you would get in the hotels in Chardham. Pilgrimage is no longer uncertain or uncomfortable.
