These days, data is increasing rapidly according to the business requirements. As it is growing, organizations are combating to implement the advanced devices to store the increasing data for longer years. Generally, servers are used in every organization to store and maintain the information for future references. It is important to manage the large amount of data as it includes all the business details that have to be maintained securely for future reference.  However, most of the organizations have traditional servers which have the minimum capacity to store limited amount of information. Hence, many IT professionals have developed several storage devices such as SAN (storage area network), NAS (network attached storage), Storwize, tape autoloaders, tape drives, flash memory devices, data travelers, hard disk drives (HDD), solid state drives (SDD) and many more.

These devices can directly connect to the main servers with the input and output ports and also with the USB ports. Primary storage devices like data travelers, zip drives, flash drives, and many more can be connected to the computer system to support the hard disk with extra storage space. These are called as removable storage devices. However, secondary storage devices have equal specifications to the servers. Hence, these are connected to the main servers to endorse with extra storage capacity and efficiency. SAN, NAS, autoloaders, tape drives, system X servers, Storwize, cartridges, dish storage devices and many others are called as secondary storage devices. SAN can provide solutions to enhance the storage space and efficiency.

SAN is the more effective device that provides maximum storage capacity to the organizations. These days, most of the organizations are implementing these devices to enhance their efficiency. These devices are connected to the network devices like LAN (local area network) and WAN (wide area network) to support the network connections. These are similar to NAS devices, but the configurations, specifications and functions differ completely. These can connect to the servers through fibre channel and Ethernet cables. These can also connect through IP or TCP protocols to endorse with several operating systems. These protocols ought to be enforced to supply the information access and also used for reading and writing files on file servers and internet servers Generally, SAN performs several server functionalities like dick mirroring, monitoring, archiving the information, restore and backup, and retrieval of archived information, knowledge migration from one device to a different one. These devices also share the data among totally different domains in numerous servers by employing a network association.
