What do you visualize when someone mentions the word "Goa"? Long
beautiful beaches, clear sand and chilling out are common things to
think of Goa. Goa of course is famous for its beaches but there are many
other things to see and discover in Goa. Here we have made a list of
how to enjoy 3 days in Goa.
Day 1 - Spend the first day on the
famed beaches of Goa. While selecting beaches you will be spoilt for
choice as each is better than the other in some way. Some of the best
beaches include, the largest and the most famous- Calangute beach ( it
can be very crowded, though!), Anjuna- a former hippie joint, Palolem-
the most scenic, Dona Paula - a beautiful beach with a tragic story,
Miramar, Baga, etc. You can enjoy para sailing, kite surfing, diving,
jet skis, or just plain chilling on the beach. Check out the weekly flea
market in Anjuna where you will find many interesting souvenirs. End
day 1 with a long walk in the sands or just a dip in the sea.
Day 2 - Travel further inland and you will find a rich and vibrant
culture with a bit of Portuguese masala. The Portuguese influence is a
result of their 450 years of colonial rule. You can find many old
churches like Our Lady of Immaculate Conception in Panjim, Church of St.
Francis of Asissi in north Goa, and the most famous the Basilica of Bom
Jesus. The Basilica contains the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier
and the surprising thing is that even after hundreds of years the body
is still not decaying. Goa also has many old and picturesque forts like
Fort Alorna, Fort Aguada,Colvale fortress, Tiracol fort etc.
Day 3 - Goa has large hordes of untouched and beautiful forests,
waterfalls, caves, rivers and gorges. You should visit Devils Canyon
located in the Mahaveer Sanctuary which is a gorge created by turbulent
waters. Instead you can also visit Mumbai which is around 8 hours away.
