Department of School Education and Literacy:
In India older days School Education is up to 10th called as Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) after that student do Pre University Course (PUC) duration of two years. Latterly School Education is up to 12th that is Pre University Course (PUC) change to 11th and 12th called as Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC).
Elementary Education is nothing but 8th standard called as Elementary School Leaving Certificate (ESLC).In this students have public exam instead of annual exam who passed this exam only can do their 9th standard and so on. Later it change as annual exam that school will put pass marks for all student to continue their studies in next class.
Secondary Education is up to 10th standard called as Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC). It is the first main exam for students because it is a public exam this will decide the student’s future students who get high mark them can get any group at 11th in school. In 11th there are group A (Biology or Computer Science), B (Accounts, Business Math’s or Computer science), C (History & Geography), D (Vocational group like typing etc…) as a compulsory subject with Tamil and English and it is called as Higher Secondary Education is 12th. This is also a public exam student who cleared in this exam can join higher education can get set in colleges (arts and science, engineering, medical colleges) by students choice and their marks in HSSC.
Student who cleared in 12th can join Diploma in Teaching Education (D.ted) who completes this course is eligible to teach up to 5th STD. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Students who complete their degree (UG) can join this course for teaching in schools up to 8th STD. Master of Education (M.Ed) Students who complete their Masters degree can join this course to teaching in schools up to 12th STD. Master of philosophy (M.Phil) course to teach in colleges.
Department of higher Education:
After Completion of School students can continue their studies in colleges. In 12th public exam student who cleared in this exam can join higher education can get set in colleges (arts and science, engineering, medical colleges) by students choice and their marks in HSSC.
Students who want to join in engineering colleges have to score marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects. Students who want to join in medical colleges have to score marks in physics, chemistry and biology subjects. There is a cut off mark for students to join colleges based on this cut off mark only students can get seat in good colleges.
Also there is another option for students to join Arts and science colleges there is no cut off marks to join these colleges.
After 10th the students can also continue their studies with technical education in polytechnic colleges and ITI. That is a diploma course in technical education.
Distance learning is found for working people who cannot continue their studies in bachelors, master’s degrees. But the teaching education people can’t do in distance learning.
