An audacious campaign for Paris's 2nd 'circonscription' : twittercampaign
Alain Lambert, maverick centrist politician and former Budget Minister, has launched an audacious campaign for Paris's 2nd 'circonscription', a seat which will be contested in next year's elections.
It all started late October, when Alain Lambert posted a humorous tweet (http://twitter.com/alainlambert) concerning the unfolding battle between two UMP politicians, François Fillon (Prime Minister) and Rachida Dati - both vying for the popular Parisian ward which includes the 6th and 7th 'arrondissements' (with the mythic St Germain des Prés) : "I'll try to reconcile them by standing myself; seeing as I live there !"
Alain Lambert, who is also President of Orne Council (Lower Normandy), is an avid tweeter and has seized the occasion to open up political debate across social networks and create a constructive online discourse between French citizens and their elected representatives. His twittercampaign is taking place via a blog (http://paris2eme.wordpress.com) and, of course, twitter (http://twitter.com/TweetParis2Elec).
His campaign is based on the principle that Twitter is the perfect medium for exchange and debate, and the perfect place for every voice to be heard. The idea of this twittercampaign is to engage voters in a discussion about the state of politics in France and the best way to bring transparency to the online political debate.
