Like any other game, it is also one of the most loved games in the world. Being one of the few games that can be played both indoor and outdoor, it is known to give a thrill to both the players and the spectators.
Any basketball trainer needs to have more understanding of the game. Not only should he know how to play the game but also know how to coach the budding players for it. In fact he should be more skilled at imparting coaching for the game then be himself skilled at it. For the same reason we often find that the best coaches are those who have not been the best players themselves.

To manage the team: A coach is required to build the team and administer it simultaneously. Along with it he has to look after the health of each person on the team. For this, from time to time he submits health forms. He also create budget for the team within which it will operate. Further, managing and ordering the gear and the equipments is also his responsibility.
He should also be ready to tackle any medical emergency arising at the time of conducting of game. Besides, he remains responsible for the safety of the players.
To build the team: A coach is responsible for recruiting the team. He must determine the strengths of the players and must bring out the best in them. He must also build a balanced team and look to fill each position with the best player for it. In other words, he must make a balanced team.
Skill and mental development: Not only the skills but also the development of the mental attitude for the game is also the responsibility of the coach. Developing skills means teaching players the fine nuances of the game such as the skills of dribbling, checking and rebounding, etc. On the other hand, developing a mental attitude in players mean to train them for the different situations arising in the game.
The coach must also build the stamina and endurance level of the players through strenuous, scheduled workouts. Besides this he can run girls and Boys basketball camps to look for more talent for his team.
