Venice is the capital of the Veneto region. It is located in the marshy Venetian Lagoon which stretches along the seashore between the mouths of the Po and the Piave Rivers. Venice is famous for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and its artworks. The city and lagoon are listed as World Heritage Sites. Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world and makes the perfect destination for couples.

Venice is one of the most popular tourist spots in the world. It is also one of the most visited places in Italy and represents a beautiful and romantic destination for your vacations. Venice is famous for its tourist-trap restaurants and overpriced hotels. It's a fairy tale city with watery avenues, gorgeous gondolas, beautiful bridges, and fantastic aromas.

When to Go
Venice is a year-round destination, with warm summers and cool winters. In any season, Venice’s churches and museums offer antique glories aplenty, but there is also a vibrant modern art scene, even away from the Art Biennale.

Music and the performing arts

The city of Venice in Italy has played an important role in the development of the music of Italy. During the 16th century, Venice became one of the most important musical centers of Europe, marked by a characteristic style of composition (the Venetian school) and the development of the Venetian polychoral style under composers such as Adrian Willaert, who worked at St Mark's Basilica.

A city break to Venice also wouldn’t be complete without soaking up the atmosphere in St Mark’s Square at one of the famous cafes whilst listening to the musicians and watching the Venetian world go by.

Museum of Oriental Art
The Museum is one of the most important collection of Japanese art of the Edo period. This collection was bought by Prince Henry II of Borbone, Count of Bardi during his travel to Asia, bewteen 1887 and 1889.

Nightlife on Holidays in Venice
Holiday in Venice with a cocktail or coffee on St Mark’s Square, then find a bar on Venice’s most happening night-time square, Campo Santa Margherita. Or dress up to the nines to visit Venice Casino inside the Renaissance Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi palace building. Here you will find three great attractions - St Mark’s Cathedral, the Palazzo Ducale - also known as Doges Palace - and the amazing clock tower, Torre dell’Orologio.

Venice really is a must-see destination, offering a unique experience of historic culture, endless waterways and inspiring architecture-not to mention the most stunning city in Italy.

When you think of a holiday in Venice, you tend to think of couples and romance, but this beautiful city is a wonderful place for a family holiday as well.
