What is a portfolio?

Portfolio is a combination of related training, contributions, awards, work experience and special accomplishments, documented and loaded with appropriate eye-catching images.

An effective portfolio is a representation of your strengths and abilities and shows that you have the good assets. The portfolio can be paper-based or electronic-based (e-portfolio)

How to create an online portfolio?

There are several steps to go through while making an online portfolio. These include:

Introduce yourself in a brief resume, so the reader gets to have an idea about you. No one would want to waste their time on something they don’t want.

•Symbolizing The Best Work:
You may have a plenty of experience, excellent, good, bad and even worst. Instead of putting all of them in the portfolio and getting messed up. It is better to write the ones you are best in. The viewers, clients etc. are more interested in the quality of your work than just the number of experiences.

•Uploading appropriate Eye-catching images:
Rather than just writing up all you have done and getting through the hard times you had to face in the job, it is better to edit your portfolio with appropriate images, images that would represent your work, job or achievement. Make sure they are eye-catchy or you’ll fail

•Using a Custom Domain:
Most of the sites would make you create a new portfolio on their website. But it is highly advised to pay a little and have your own domain and hosting.

•Creating a Bio that expresses your uniqueness:
Be ready and clear to share up your views about the industry and work you have gone through. Be confident to share the experiences that made you have this view. Amalgamate your experiences with a personality quiz, telling your hobbies and interests and the reasons you are having them. Mentioning the awards and achievements would make the reader go through your hidden talents.

•Remember the Objective:
Never go out of track and remember your goal and purpose. It is necessary for the reader to review your professionalism than your personal experience. If we see the example of Photography, it is advisable to show your interest in the beauty and the positive aspects of nature.

•Keep Simple:
Never get into complications and be short, simple and exact in the content when describing. Have your content loaded with your experiences in the breaking points to keep the audience of your portfolio interested. Imagining you as the audience (or audiences) ask yourself questions about the content. This would make a clear idea in your mind that what exactly you should be presenting, that includes the type of images etc.

•On what basis would you label a portfolio as best:
Ask yourself the question and go through the portfolio. Is it what you see in a good portfolio? Is it what you would want as an audience? Note out the negative views and try to limit them up. Proofread the portfolio and remove the grammatical and spelling mistakes (if any).

If you are looking to edit your portfolio with Photoshop, DON’T! Because decent portfolios are always attractive.
Make sure to mention examples, achievements and awards that you have earned.
