While working on the MS Access database, you must have encountered corruption in the database. The database can get severely damaged due to various reasons such as having a corrupt operating system, performing an unsuccessful write operation on the database, multiple users working simultaneously on the same database, virus infections and so on.

In most of the cases, you may get an error message that will assist you in understanding the issue and, probably, the way to resolve it. You can perform the steps and rectify the problem. However, if you are not able to address the problem then you will have to use an access database repair software.

Consider a situation wherein you are working as one of the database administrator in your organization. You have been given the task to update certain records in the central database.

Now, when you open a database table, let's say, Accounts, you are unable to do so. An error message is displayed in such cases, that is:

"The table Accounts is already opened exclusively by another user, or it is already open through the user interface and cannot be manipulated pro grammatically. (Error 3008)"

This error message occurs when you are trying to access a table for modification that has already been opened by another user. You cannot open such tables as it could lead to having ambiguous database across the board. Another reason for this error is that the database file is corrupt and is now inaccessible.

First of all, make sure if another user is using the mentioned table for modifications or not. If the database table is in use, then you will have to wait until that user does not close the table.

However, if the database table is not in use and you are still getting the same error message that means the database table is corrupt and you will have to look for the "other" solution.

This other solution is using an Access repair tool that will assist you in Access file repair. The benefit in using such tools is that these access repair applications use efficient algorithms to scan and repair the corrupt database.
