LUDHIANA: To create awareness about environmental issues, a documentary film was screened by the Centre for communication and international Linkages (CCIL) of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) at S. Kulwant Singh Virk Auditorium of the University today. The faculty and the students of the PAU watched the documentary, made by the CCIL, with great interest. Giving details, the assistant director (TV/RADIO) of PAU, Dr Anil Sharma said that the documentary is a part of the National Environment Awareness Campaign of 2013, launched by the Punjav State Council for Science and Technology.
He told that the documentary highlights the significance of trees which provide green, fresh, healthy and friendly environment to the public. Stating that the trees have a social, religious and cultural significance, he remarked, “It has been rightly said that the best friend of man on this earth is the tree."
In his remarks, Dr Sanjeev Chauhan, an expert of forestry and natural Resources, PAU, said that creating awakening amongst the public about environment through the screening of documentary film is a positive step, which can play a vital role in keeping the environment neat, clean and green.
The In charge of National Service Scheme of PAU, Dr H.S Sarlach suggested the screening of such documentary films in schools and colleges to spread mass awareness about environment. He also said that this documentary will be shown to the NSS volunteers of the PAU.
On this occasion, the students who participated in the documentary namely Simran, Pamoor Grewal, Maninder Sandhu, Simranjit Vadhan, Ravinder Singh and many others were also present.
