Intuit QuickBooks is a business accounting software specifically designed to meet the requirements of small businesses. It is a handy utility for those who do not know to organize their business finances, track sales, create instant reports etc. It stores information about the company, its employees and customers, associated vendors etc. in a company (or QBW) file. It records all the transactions between these groups in a Transaction log (or TLG) file. Sometimes, due to a mismatch between the company file and the transaction log file, the company file becomes corrupt. As a consequence, you lose access to all the valuable information stored in the QBW file. To overcome this problem, you need to repair QBW file by using a reliable third-party tool.

For instance, you are using Intuit QuickBooks 2009. When you try to open a company file in the QuickBooks application, you may come across the following error message:

"QuickBooks was unable to open the file [path\filename] on the host computer [host name]. Try opening the file with QuickBooks on the host computer or run the QuickBooks Database Server Manager on the host computer and then try opening the file on your computer.

If the problem persists, please contact Intuit Technical Support and provide them with the following error codes (-6190, -816)."

You have copied and updated the company file on a different system without updating the associated transaction log file.

This has resulted in a mismatch between the QBW file and the TLG file.

To repair corrupt QuickBooks file, follow the below mentioned resolution steps:

Use QuickBooks Company File Diagnostic Tool: Run this tool to perform a consistency check on the company file. If data damage is detected, restore the file using an updated backup. If no problem is found, go to the next step.

Use QuickBooks Connection Diagnostic Tool: Use this tool to see whether the network connection is OK. If no connection problems are detected, go to the next step.

Renaming the TLG file: Rename the transaction log file and then try to open the company file.

If the above resolution steps fail to fix the problem, then you should help of an efficient QuickBooks repair tool. These software use advanced scanning mechanisms to safely recover all the business critical information from the corrupt or damaged QBW file.

Recovery for QuickBooks is a competent utility that repairs QBW files created in Intuit QuickBooks (US version) 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007.
