A PFS (Page Free Space) page in MS SQL Server database tracks free space available with the database. The page consists of a byte-map that further includes one byte for every page (P_ID) in the PFS interval. However, if the P_ID is assigned to a PFS page and even then the page remains unreadable, then the SQL database is corrupted. In such cases, the data saved in the SQL database becomes inaccessible. To access the data if your SQL Server database gets corrupted, an easy way is to restore the data from an updated backup. However, if no backup is available or backup falls short of restoring the required information/data, then the SQL Server database user needs an advanced third party sql database recovery application to repair the database.
Consider a practical case, where the underneath error message appears when you attempt to access the SQL Server database:
“Object ID O_ID, index ID I_ID: Page P_ID could not be processed. See other errors for details.”
Not only the database records become inaccessible after the occurrence of the above error message, you are not able to perform any function (select, modify, add, or delete) on your SQL Server database.
The above error message pops up when the P_ID, which was marked as 'allocated' in the PFS page, fails to get read. This occurs when the database is corrupted. Corruption can occur due to both logical and physical reasons.
To resolve the above error message, underneath are some actions that you need to take:
The physical damage has a solution - changing the damaged system component with a new component.
Logical corruption can be solved by running DBCC CHECKDB command, with a suitable repair clause. While the command has high success rate, there are chances of its failure. For such cases, you need to opt for an advanced sql recovery tool. A SQL Recovery tool repairs database, that has gotten corrupted due to any logical reason. Furthermore, the repaired database can be saved at required destination.
