Nepal visa is required by all foreigners except Indians. Nepal visa is valid for three to six months from the date of issue and can be further extended. Nepal visa is available even at the entries like Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at road borders - Nepalganj, Birganj/Raxaul Bazaar, Sunauli, Kakarbhitta, Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, also at Kodari checkpoint on the road to Tibet.
All foreigners other than Indians must have a visa to travel Nepal. Nepali visas can be obtained without hassle. Nepal visa is available even at the entries like Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at road borders - Nepalganj, Birganj/Raxaul Bazaar, Sunauli, Kakarbhitta, Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, also at Kodari checkpoint on the road to Tibet.
Nepal visa is valid for three to six months from the date of issue and can be further extended. Children below 10 require a visa but are not charged visa fee. Six months validity of passport is required. Even the citizens of South Asian countries (SAARC) and China residents need visas but those are free.
Nepal Visa can be gained only through cash payment in the following currencies - Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar and Japanese Yen. Credit card, Indian currency and Nepali currency are not accepted as payment for visa fee.

2. Gratis (Free) Visa
Gratis Visa for 30 days is available to all people of South Asian countries SAARC countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka during their first visit in one visa year (January to December). This can be extended from the Immigration Department on payment of visa fee as specified above.
3. For Indian National
Indian nationals do not require visa to enter Nepal.
As per the Nepalese Immigration rules, Indian Nationals Traveling to Nepal must possess any one of the following documents.
- Driving License with photo
- Photo Identity card issued by a Government Agency
- Ration Card with Photo
- Election Commission Card with Photo
- Identity Card issued by Embassy of India in Kathmandu
- Identity Card with Photo issued by Sub- Divisional Magistrate or any other officials above his rank

4. Other Information
Residents of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan will need to obtain visa from Nepal Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their countries itself as the visas are not available to them after arrival at immigration entry points of Nepal.
5. Visa Extension
Tourists can stay for a maximum of 150 days in a visa year (Jan 1 to Dec 31).
