Boat Anodes - Enhances the Operating Performance

Anodes are used to prevent corrosion that occurs when metal and steel parts of boats and vessels come in regular contact with salt water, which is an electrolyte. Corrosion usually attacks the parts that are made up of stainless steel components such as struts and prop shafts and also bronze thru-hulls and props. There is a high chance of rusting these metals fast as they are continuously in touch with water.

Electrolytic corrosion – It occurs in the presence of current, may be because of a callously installed electrical system in the boat or from a faulty wiring. This corrosion sometimes combines with galvanic corrosion to create an electrochemical action. This also pause great threat to boats.

Magnesium, Zinc and Aluminum are the commonly used best boat anodes. All the three anodes vary in their physical properties, hence choosing the right anode depending on the purpose is important. Among the three commonly used anodes, Zinc anode become widely popular as they provide, simple, cost-effective, maintenance free protection to the interiors of boat and vessels.

Boat Zincs can be attached directly to the propellers, shafts, rudders, struts of boat and they give complete protection. In addition, boat zincs can be attached to berglass, wood, steel, or aluminum hulls. Zinc anodes protect underground and underwater metallic systems for years and corrode themselves first to prevent the parts from corroding. Hence, it is important to check the size of the boat zincs regularly and replace the same accordingly.

Zinc anodes have been a default choice of boat communities for decades as they perform well in any water type and in any conditions. You can prevent the eating away of shafts, propellers, rudders, and other fittings made of metals using effective anodes.
