Last year technology market saw the launch of Sony Tablet S that was received well by the technology enthusiasts. It was well praised for its design, features and its uniqueness even after being pricey. Now Samsung has come up with Xperia Tablet S, this is much slimmer and is powered with Tegra 3 processor (quad-core). However, these are not all, there is much more about this new tab by Sony. Look and Feel

The look and feel of this new Xperia S has the magazine look discarding the old wedge shaped look. Now you will see the new look that is more refined, classy and sport angular look. Sides of this tab are more like angular in shape at the edges but nonetheless it looks sleek and stylish.

The screen of this tablet measures 9.4-inch (IPS) with a resolution of 1,280x800-pixel. The panel is painted in classic black finish making it look stylish. The unique quality of the panel color is that it reduces screen reflections.

Powered with Tegra 3 with 1.3GHz, the tab consists of 1.4GHz and is capable of performing single-core operations. It has 1GB RAM; a user can choose to select from the given memory storage options of  16GB, 32GB, or 64GB storage sizes. As far as Wi-Fi is concerned, you get an 802.11 a/b/g/n and a 3.0 Bluetooth.

Connectivity options include a slot for SD card and a High Definition Multimedia Input to connect to media devices. Other miscellaneous things include a gyroscope, accelerometer, volume buttons, headphone jack and power button that doubles up as sleep button. 1mp camera is mounted on the top for video calling and an 8mp camera is located at the back for capturing pictures and recording videos.

Another interesting thing that is said about this tablet is that it is splash proof but not necessarily waterproof. However, the tablet will still respond to your touch even with wet hands.

Surprise element

The Xperia Tablet S is capable of acting as a remote control. This tablet is powered with a feature that enables in remote control. All this is possible with its Infra Red that works along with its new software called Watch Now. All this coupled gives an amazing experience and smooth remote functionality. Now you can easily control your other devices (Sony propriety) including audio player, video player, TV, Blue-ray player with just one press on your tab. This technology integration enables in enhancing user experience with relation to using various electronic devices with just one touch.

The app of Watch now acts as  reminder about the latest program schedule and even recommendations for user to watch the latest episodes of a preferred program that is about to be aired. This app works in sync with the prevalent trends in social-media in relation to the TV schedules. This app is more like a TV guide that will keep you alert upon the latest episodes that are about to be aired. Watch Now is available on Google Play for Xperia Tablet S users exclusively.


The tablet comes equipped with Android 4.0 version. This tab contains Music and Video unlimited apps which gives a user the option of storing music offline. Now sharing pictures and videos is easier with PlayMemories an online service much like the cloud service that is capable of sharing content with any device.

A user will also be able to gain access to small apps these include apps like, timers, recorders, calculator that will run along with other apps. Interestingly a user will be able to obtain content like pictures from online and share them via Scrapbook by allowing to clip assets.

Sony Xperia Tablet S will be launched this September on the 7th. Users will be able to choose from various configurations with regard to the storage that include 16 GB priced at $399, 32GB priced at $499 and 64GB priced at $599.  The best part that may attract any user is the remote control IR blaster.
