Opening Excel File Becomes a Tedious Job Unless You Repair

Do not get upset when you face errors in Excel application. This is a common fact that errors make it impossible to access the application file. Data cannot be accessed or managed. But still, it is not a big problem. Corrupt Excel files show abrupt behavior because of a number of reasons. Reason for the below stated error is discussed in the next part of the article. Corruption is one of the chief reason for such behavior, and leads to major data loss situations. To further clarify the above issue, suppose you try to open an Excel file, and it refuses to open. In addition to this abrupt behavior, it flashes an error message on the screen:

"The document 'Filename' caused a serious error the last time it was opened. Would you like to continue opening it?"

This error message bothers you every time you try to open Excel file in your system.

Above error message is caused because the Excel file appears on the disabled files for Microsoft Office program.
A file is added to list by the MS Excel program when the file close abruptly or crashes during at least two attempts to open it.
This may also happen due to corruption of the Excel file.

To sort out the issue, first of all remove Excel file from the list of disabled files. For removing the file, follow the below given steps:

Steps in Excel 2002 and 2003 are:
1.Go to help menu, select 'About Microsoft Program' and select 'Disabled Items'
2.Select that file and then click on 'Enable'.

Steps in Excel 2007 are:
1.Select Microsoft Office Button -> Program Name Options, -> Add-Ins tab.
2.From the Manage list, select Disabled Items, and then select Go.
3.Select a file, and select 'Enable'.

It might be possible if you enabled a file, program may or may not open the file. If this same happens with you, then corruption might be the reason for such behavior. In such a situation, there is a need to opt for a third-party Excel repair tools. By taking help of these tools, you can repair XLS file without any difficulty. These tools are quite simple to use.
