Origins of the Theory

The person that came up with this theory was named Georges Lemaître, and he was a Roman Catholic priest and scientist.  Other cosmologists at the time complained that "the beginning of time implied by the Big Bang imported religious concepts into physics."  In other words, they thought that the Big Bang theory implied that God created the universe at a specific time (as the Christian Bible, and other religious documents might point out).

Are you surprised by this?  Why/Why not?  Explain in a paragraph or so.

We are surprised because the big bang theory has NOTHING to do with religion. People created it as an excuse to not believe in a god. So it surprised us that it somehow has something to do with Christianity.

The thought that the big bang theory could have anything to do with god or religion doesn't surprise me. For some reason, people don't like to believe in science because it is different from their religion. I may not believe it, but others do.

I'm not quite all that surprised because science has already a lot to di with science any way.

Sierra- Many may not realize it, but science has so much already to do with religion. I am not surprised at all. Back when the Big Bang was first thought of, religion was everything. Even though the theory has slightly changed, science will always be innertwined.

Brooklyn- yes becaus a lot of people hav different religins and so it would b hard for enough ppl to agree with this theory when the y blieve in a dif religion
