○    In the text box enter the file type, and then click to add new extension.

○    Click on index properties only or index properties and file contents.

○    Then click ok to save changes.

  • By restarting the windows search services:

○    steps:

○    Click start button having windows logo on it.

○    Click to control panel.

○    In control panel window, click to system and maintenance.

○    Click to administrative tools.

○    Double click services and provide confirmation password if asked.

○    Double click windows search in services dialog box under name.

○    Click stop in windows search properties dialog box and then click start.

○    Click ok to save the changes.

  • By deleting selected registry key: It’s a manual procedure by which you can delete selected registry key which is creating trouble.

○    Press windows + R keys to launch run dialog box.

○    Type regedit and then hit enter.

○    Find the following registry key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {ef87b4cb-f2ce-4785-8658-4ca6c63e38c6}

○    With the help of mouse right click on this sub key and then select delete.

○    Restart your computer to fix the problem.
