Anyone who has ever dealt with trying to lose weight would love nothing more than a quick fix or solution. Losing weight is hard work, and sometimes no matter how hard we try we just can’t lose those last few pounds. Fortunately there happens to be a very effective method for slimming the waist and thighs. It entails surgery, but the procedure is safe and relatively fast. It is called liposuction (lipoplasty) and it is one of the most widely used and safest forms of cosmetic surgery available today. The reason it is so popular is it enables people to lose hard-to-impact weight spots and to contour their waists and thighs quickly.
Liposuction is a fairly straightforward procedure. A cosmetic surgeon uses a small tube called a cannula to suction fat cells from under the skin. The doctor starts the procedure by injecting fluid into the areas that will be contoured. The fluid makes it easier to remove fat, while diminishing the chances of swelling, bruising, and bleeding. Your specific case will determine whether a general or a local anesthetic will be used.
The process is relatively quick. It takes about 45 minutes per section. Recovery is influenced by the degree of the procedure but most people return to their normal schedules immediately.
Liposuction is an excellent technique for body contouring but is not a method for losing a great deal of weight. If you are obese it is not a good idea to have the procedure. In fact, if you are appreciably overweight there could be a marked increase in the risks with the surgery. The procedure is meant for people that are already close to their normal weight but are having trouble with stubborn areas that do not respond well to exercise and diet.
As a board certified liposuction surgeon will tell you, lipo produces essentially permanent results. If you gain a lot of weight after the procedure you will not accumulate as much fat in the treated areas but you will get bigger in other areas. It is highly recommended that after you recover you start regular exercise program and a healthy diet. Prior to any type of exercise regimen you need to consult with your surgeon to make sure you have healed and that you are in good enough health.
